Snow Storm/Vernal Equinox

Tomorrow is the first day of spring and its looking like we'll have between 1 to 2 feet of new snow to greet the Vernal Equinox.  It is a winter wonderland out there and the snow is accumulating quickly as I type.  The plow truck came through to do a sweep of our parking lot even though it was just here an hour or two ago.   That's a sign of a great storm!
With that said, the snow will be perfect for all snow related outdoor recreation.  Come enjoy it while you still can! The warm spring weather will be here before you know it.
Maple sugar weekend is March 23rd and 24th.  Many local sugar shacks will be sharing and selling their liquid gold.   Turkey Street Maples will be having tastings, demonstrations and selling their products turkeystreetmaples.com .
If you are up for the weekend or weekday and haven't visited Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield Maine, you are missing out.  Incredible shows with incredible artists and incredible food and its only 25 minutes away from The Comfort Inn.  Upcoming shows include Toots and the Maytals, Paula Poundstone, Aaron Neville, Ricky Skaggs and many more. Check them out.

Spring has sprung.

Spring is in the air in the Mount Washington Valley. Well technically it will be here in a few weeks, but the early signs are here. Ice is melting on the lakes and rivers and you can actually see little buds on some of the trees. Snow is melting off of the Pirates Cove Adventure Golf Course connected to the Hotel.
The ski resorts will have great skiing through at least late March. Cyclists are cleaning the cobwebs off their bikes and hitting the classic Mt. Washington Valley rides, and runners are out running in droves. For folks who get their exercise from shopping, the shops are having amazing end of winter sales.
One of the best spring time rituals is the maple sugaring season. Its a favorite pastime of locals and visitors alike. So much fun to drive around, observing all of the buckets attached to the trees collecting sap which will be turned into delicious syrup for pancakes and waffles.  Maple sugaring is a  ritual here in the valley. Maple sugar weekend is March 23rd and 24th.  Come and taste the final products fresh from the sugar shacks!  Call us directly for great rates.

"To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted"
